Here is the kitchen BEFORE! YIKES!
Here it is! Our kitchen before and after!
When I look at the before picture, I still cringe a little bit, because we bought this house while we were living in another state! We knew it was a fixer upper, and we wanted to put our stamp on an older home. We settled on a 890 square foot home, built in the 1950's. We had a pretty tight budget, but we wanted to get our hands dirty, and do most of the work on our own. Luckily, with the help of my uncle who is a retired contractor, and close family and friends, we were able to create the perfect kitchen for our growing family. We kept the original cabinets and appliances, but everything else is new. We sprayed the cabinets, painted the walls and trim, put in an ikea island, added subway tile, put in new flooring and counters, and added recessed lighting [which made a HUGE difference]. What was our total expenses for our kitchen?? A whopping $4,000. It was a lot of work to keep the price that low, but I'm so glad we were able to [pretty much] stay on budget in this space.
Stay tuned for many more Before and After photos of both mine and Aymee's homes!
