Kitchen Renovation Tips on a Budget

We get a lot of questions on renovating kitchens on a tight budget, and it can absolutely be done if you are 1. Doing the work. 2. Plan ahead! Everyone deserves to live in a home they absolutely love, no matter their budget. We know it’s possible to make any home great! Here are our tips for transforming your kitchen on a budget.

our tips:

PAINT. Painting makes such a huge difference!  If you can’t afford new cabinets, paint your original ones!  You can either hire someone to paint them, or paint them yourself.  We highly recommend if you paint them yourself to rent or invest in a spray gun.  They turn out more even that way!

FLOORING. If you’re keeping your original flooring but don’t love it, you add a kitchen runner to your space.  We love them, and they instantly add character and warmth. If you are redoing your floors, we recommend looking at LVT, tile, or marmoleum for budget friendly options.

COUNTERTOPS. If you can afford quartz or honed granite, that’s the way to go for durability and quality.  If that’s not in the budget, butcher block is the next best option!

TILE/BACKSPLASH. There are lots of tile options under $10 square foot.  If you can’t afford tile, vertical tongue and groove or beadboard to the ceiling is another great option.

HARDWARE. Hardware isn’t very expensive, and it’s a great way to add value and interest to your kitchen.

LIGHTING. There are SO many lighting options out there. If you are having an electrician out, we recommend adding pendants over your island or sink, or sconces over your open shelves.

ACCESSORIES. Have fun here! Especially if you have open shelving.  You can get a lot of practical accessories on a dime. For a timeless look, stick with neutrals.
